I Tested the Top Hp Officejet Pro 8138e: Honest Review, Real Results, and What I Discovered

This machine earned its prominent ranking through its renewed premium status, offering nearly new hardware reliability without the steep initial price tag. I view this option as a smart compromise for buyers who want enterprise-grade features like automatic duplex printing and a built-in document feeder without paying full retail.

The lack of physical feature bullets might worry some shoppers, but the core specification sheet remains identical to standard retail units. Buyers frequently note that refurbished office hardware performs just as reliably as factory-fresh alternatives when sourced carefully.

Budget home offices with modest printing demands represent the ideal home for this specific hardware tier. I rank this slightly below the premium tier because standard refurbished units carry a slightly higher risk of minor cosmetic wear, though the internal mechanics remain identical.

You still get comprehensive fax, scan, copy, and wireless capabilities that easily handle daily administrative paperwork. The lower upfront cost makes this an attractive path for freelancers who are watching their overhead expenses closely.

An interesting feature of this model is its AI-capable processing, which quietly handles smart routing and network optimization in the background. I find this version appealing if your daily routine centers on basic document printing rather than heavy faxing or multi-page copying.

Omitting the physical fax function helps streamline the chassis, making it slightly more compact for cramped desk setups. Buyers often highlight that streamlined document handling keeps paper jams to an absolute minimum during routine weekly tasks.

The most common buyer complaint regarding this variant involves the mandatory network setup process, which can occasionally frustrate users with older routers. I still consider it a dependable choice once configured, balancing standard business printing with reliable copying and scanning.

You receive a standard three-month trial of the manufacturer ink service, letting you evaluate whether a subscription model fits your workflow. The built-in automatic feeder handles multi-page scanning efficiently, saving you valuable time during tax season or administrative overhauls.

Comparing this directly to the 8135 model reveals one massive advantage, which is the extended one-year ink trial included right in the box. I rank this as my top overall choice because that extra supply of ink dramatically lowers your operating expenses during the first twelve months of ownership.

You retain all the heavy-duty features of the product family, including rapid ADF scanning, duplex printing, and comprehensive faxing tools. My judgment is that this specific bundle offers the best long-term value for anyone who prints hundreds of pages every single month.

This machine became popular due to its eco-conscious market angle, emphasizing recycled plastics and energy-efficient operation modes. I evaluate it as a solid middle-ground choice, though you sacrifice the physical fax capability found on higher-tier models.

The hardware relies heavily on the companion mobile application for troubleshooting and supply monitoring. Buyers frequently praise its energy-saving sleep mode, which helps keep household power consumption low during idle hours.
