I Tested the Top Lego Classic 10698 and the Results Were Impressive

This box earned my top ranking because of its exceptional piece count paired with the iconic yellow storage container. You get a generous 790 pieces that cater to both beginners and veteran builders who want to expand their collections without breaking the bank.

I'd point most parents and hobbyists here first because the sheer variety of wheels, windows, and doors unlocks endless imaginative potential. Tast matters when organizing thousands of tiny components, and the included brick separator is a lifesaver for stubborn connections.

This bulk bundle is best for classrooms, birthday party setups, or extremely dedicated households needing mass quantities of bricks. Purchasing three sets at once eliminates the frustrating shortage of standard blocks that often halts a massive engineering project mid-build.

I think this bulk approach makes sense only if you have multiple children sharing supplies or a very large dedicated playroom. Storage becomes a bigger puzzle when you suddenly triple your brick inventory overnight, so plan your shelf space accordingly.

This pairing features the clever inclusion of a green base plate right out of the box, which changes how kids anchor their architectural creations. A sturdy foundation is usually an afterthought in basic kits, but bundling a plate with two separate brick boxes solves that stability problem immediately.

I'd rank this setup high for anyone starting fresh who wants a complete play area on day one. You do miss out on the large plastic storage tub found in the standalone flagship sets, meaning you will need to supply your own bins.

The most common buyer complaint regarding this set involves the high concentration of specialized decorative pieces over standard rectangular blocks. However, looking at the wider picture, those unique shapes actively encourage children to experiment with pretend play and character creation.

I find the 820 pieces impressive for the price point, even if you have to work around the unusual element selection. If your goal is building smooth walls and traditional houses, you might find the mix slightly quirky.

Stepping down from the massive flagship set, this compact collection offers a modest 221 pieces for casual builders. Unlike the sprawling packs mentioned above, this smaller box targets minimalists or gift-givers looking for a low-commitment introduction to plastic brick construction.

I consider this a fantastic stocking stuffer, though serious builders will exhaust the inventory in a single afternoon. It lacks the expansive color range and specialty windows of its larger siblings, but it wins on portability.

This starter set gained its strong reputation through targeted thematic builds that teach architectural basics to young minds. Assessing whether that specialized angle holds up, I think the focus on doors, windows, and roof slopes genuinely helps beginners construct recognizable buildings quickly.

I appreciate how the guided ideas spark creativity without locking a child into rigid instructions. The trade-off is a lower overall piece count at 270 pieces, meaning expansion packs will soon become necessary.
